Animal Stories

Pixie and the Angels

...Before I had heard about Amelia, and before I had consciously started communicating with animals, I worked with feral cats in South Africa. Therefore had quite a bit experience with trapping wild cats, taming kittens (and adults) and just generally dealing with very frightened animals who do not trust humans as far as they could spit.

Out of the blue, I got a phone call from someone who was very distressed about her cat. She had adopted a cat that had been abandoned and would have been put to sleep. Megan put a collar with a name tag on Pixie. The vet was quite pro this. Unfortunately she was given a collar without a safety release or elastic (a small dog collar, not a cat collar).

When Megan phoned me Pixie had been missing for a month. She had recently been spotted at a local café and nursery. Megan had been trying to catch her, but Pixie was so terrified that she was having no luck.

I went down with her to see if I could help. Pixie had got her arm through the collar, and it was eating into her flesh. She was in a lot of pain, and incredibly frightened. We sat quietly near where Pixie was, any move we made toward her, she would run. After sitting for a few hours (with a plate of food), she eventually started getting closer. I knew the most important thing was to get the collar off her. It was so tight it would have to be cut.

I visualised her coming closer to me and spoke to her quietly telling her that I wanted to help her.- If I had known then what I know now, on the animal telepathy side, things would have been much easier.

I knew I needed help from other sources than just my physical surrounds. I asked my Angels, who I always believe are near, for some assistance. I imagined them pushing Pixie towards me with their wings, gently encouraging her in my direction. What was so incredibly amazing is that every time I pictured this, she would move a little closer towards me. It sounds unbelievable but it really worked. After about 20 minutes. Pixie was sitting in my lap and I had managed to cut the collar off her, but she wouldn't let me pick her up to put her in the basket. She was still too scared. By this time it was dark. We decided to come back in the morning , Pixie was fed and the collar was off.. so I wasn't worried about her.

The next morning she came right up and was rolling about and playing- so happy and relieved to have the collar off. Megan was able to take her home and start over.

Although many people advocate collars for cats, there is a danger involved. Cats are not like dogs, they get themselves into awkward positions, squeezing through tight spaces, climbing trees in fear. If a cat is not used to wearing a collar he/she will try and squeeze out of it, with sometimes horrific results(like Pixie). Nowadays the best way for identification is a microchip. Most vets and the RSPCA have scanners. If you do feel your cat must wear a collar, make absolutely sure it has a safety release catch.

The Red Kite

Karen Thorne from the UK, sent me this wonderful story.

My grandmother lived in Aberystwyth and we had shared a couple of magical days driving up into the mountains. One day there was the most beautiful red kite almost level with us. It was the days when the only red kites in the UK were the ones in Wales before those Spanish ones you have in Oxfordshire took a hold!

My grandmother died unexpectedly ( on my birthday )whilst she was on holiday. in Thailand. When her coffin arrived for the funeral I just lost it. I was so stressed out and didn't think I would make it through the service.

As we went into the crematorium, I was having real problems holding myself together. The building has the most beautiful large window looking over the valley. As we came into the building, a large red kite came down and landed on a tree right next to the window. My parents and husband all noticed it. It gave us all something to focus on and watch during the service, allowing me to take control and just get through the service. It stayed there for the whole service until we stood at the end, when it flew off.

I have no doubt it was sent to support me through that time. My grandmother was humanist and my parents had been discussing with the lady conducting the service the possiblity of becoming humanist. I have no religion or spiritual believes but was quite ( irrationaly ) upset about their plans to do this. However once they'd seen the kite they decided against it.

I returned to Aber in the Autumn for the first time in 5 years and as we drove along the coast road next to the crematorium a kite swooped down in front of us.
